Lumedyne is location lighting and portable professional flash equipment.
We offer Cyclers and the X to power other brands of flashes. And, we have a modular flash system that has a proven track record of being a highly reliable source of light for professional photographers for over 45 years.
To build a full flash system, you wil need a Power Pack, a Flash Head, a Battery and a Charger. Some added cables and accessories might be a great addition and you need to trigger the system with a radio or light slave or a sync cord.
We have photographers on staff to answer your questions, so give us a call and let us help you create your own perfect lighting solution for on location.
Action Packs are designed to have an extremely fast flash duration. They freeze fast moving action better than any other brand of high power flash system because they have a faster t0.1 time till the flash duration is finished.
The 400ws Action Pack has its fastest setting at its highest power, so 400ws is finished in 1/1500 second. It also has settings at 200ws and 100ws but they are slower.
The Pack has a seven light battery gauge and powers one Lumedyne Flash Head (Quartz Flashtube recommended) and it does give you the option of fast or extra fast recycling between flashes.
The Quantum™ brand Q-Flashes with an X in the Part number are designed to run from a Pack like the Lumedyne brand. In order to plug in their black four pin plug into the Lumedyne metal six pin socket, then you need an adapter like this one.
It's true that Quantum™ also sells their own version of this adapter cable, however, we use a better strain relief system that helps prevent clamping the cable into a short circuit and perhaps damaging some electronics.
The X2DL Deluxe Booster goes between the Battery and most Lumedyne Power Packs to add 200ws of additional power to the Pack above it or add another Head jack that can be powered at 100ws or 200ws regardless of what the Pack is set at. This allows for a wide variety of asymmetrical power options. It has a switch for the Head jack power selection or to send the extra Boost power up to the Pack above it.
It is only about three inches tall weighs about two pounds and can add an f-stop to the 200ws Packs since it doubles the available power. The second Head jack syncs together with the rest of the system.
The ASC1 is the short coiled sync cord that would plug from the round sync jack on many professional cameras to the household sync jack on many Lumedyne Flash Heads.
It is about two feet long before stretching the coils out and could reach almost five feet (but might not shrink back all the way if stretched too far).
The ASC5 is the long straight sync cord (30 feet is about 9 meters) that would plug from the round sync jack on many professional cameras to the household sync jack on many Lumedyne Flash Heads.
It's perfect as a back up option to radio slaves when you want an off camera light and you have a PC sync connection or adapter on your camera.
The HQRS has the high power Quartz Flashtube to be better suited for the Action Packs or use over 800ws.
The Next Generation Heads look the closest to the old classic design because they have the round cylindrical shape to the body. The attached five foot long straight Head Cord will connect to any Lumedyne Power Pack.
There are two sync jacks on the rear of the Head, both the household style and the mini-phone sockets are available near the buttons for the modeling light and test flash.
The Head includes the 2400ws flashtube, modeling lamp, five inch reflector, two diffusors and a metal snoot.
